Salted Caramel Frosting
Ingredients:
- 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Directions:
- Bring the first 2 ingredients to a rolling boil in a 3 1/2-qt. saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly.
- Stir in cream and return to a boil, then remove it from heat.
- Pour the mixture into the bowl of a heavy-duty electric stand mixer.
- Gradually, I beat in powdered sugar and vanilla at medium speed, using the whisk attachment.
- Beat for 7 to 10 minutes or until thickened.
- Use the frosting immediately.
