Traditional French Meat Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
Directions:
- In a large skillet, brown the ground pork and beef over medium heat until cooked through.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, sautéing until the onion is translucent.
- Pour in the beef broth, and add cinnamon, cloves, allspice, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
- Pour the meat mixture into the crust.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the meat mixture.
- Seal the edges and cut slits in the top crust for ventilation.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
