Amish Baked Custard

Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 cups whole milk, heated until warm
- Ground cinnamon for topping
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs slightly.
- Add sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and nutmeg.
- Mix well.
- Slowly stir in the warm milk until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
- Sprinkle the top lightly with ground cinnamon.
- Place the casserole dish in a larger baking pan.
- Fill the larger pan with about 1-inch of hot water to create a water bath.
- Carefully place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Remove the custard from the water bath and allow to cool slightly.
- Serve warm or chilled, as desired.
