Easy Biscuits & Gravy Casserole
Hearty Southern-Style Biscuits and Gravy Bake
Ingredients:
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Open the can of biscuits and cut each biscuit into quarters.
- Spread half of the biscuit pieces evenly in the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a skillet, cook the ground sausage over medium heat until fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks.
- Scatter the cooked sausage over the biscuit layer.
- In the same skillet, use the sausage drippings to make a roux.
- Sprinkle the flour over the drippings, stir, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, and continue cooking until the mixture thickens into a gravy. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Pour the gravy evenly over the sausage and biscuit layer.
- Top with the remaining biscuit pieces.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top layer of biscuits.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the gravy is bubbly.
