Greek Chicken Gyros

Ingredients:

  • 4 pita breads
  • 2 chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the chicken slices until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. For the tzatziki sauce, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  7. Warm the pita breads in the oven or on a skillet.
  8. Assemble the gyros by spreading tzatziki on each pita, adding chicken, onion, tomatoes, and feta cheese.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley.
  10. Roll up the gyros and serve immediately.
