Greek Chicken Gyros
Ingredients:
- 4 pita breads
- 2 chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 cucumber, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Directions:
- In a bowl, mix the olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken slices until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- For the tzatziki sauce, mix Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
- Chill in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Warm the pita breads in the oven or on a skillet.
- Assemble the gyros by spreading tzatziki on each pita, adding chicken, onion, tomatoes, and feta cheese.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
- Roll up the gyros and serve immediately.
