Stuffed Pastry Rolls / Sausage Rolls
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 egg
- 2.5 cups of water
- 6 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 7 ounces (200 g) butter (for greasing the dough)
For the filling:
- 14 ounces (400 g) minced meat
- 2 onions
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of chili pepper
- Salt to taste
For brushing on top:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon of milk
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- To make the dough, start by beating the egg in a mixing bowl.
- Then, gradually add water while stirring.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. Slowly add the flour mixture to the egg and water mixture, stirring continuously until a smooth dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin circles.
- For the filling, finely chop the onions and mix them with the minced meat, black pepper, chili pepper, and salt.
- Place a spoonful of the filling onto each dough circle and fold it over, sealing the edges to form a roll.
- Grease a baking tray with butter and place the stuffed rolls on it.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and milk. Brush this mixture over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
