Namakwalanders Sago Pudding

  • 1 cup of sago soaked in 2 cups of water
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla essence
  • A pinch of salt
  • A few cubes of butter
  • A little cinnamon for sifting over pudding

Method

  1. Soaked sago and salt in 2 cups of water for about 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the milk then add the sugar, vanilla and sago stirring continuesly to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  3. Allow to cool a bit before adding the eggs and give one last stir.
  4. Pour into a greased pyrex or baking tray and sift over a little cinnamon and put on the cubes of butter.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven 180 degC for about 30-35 minutes.
