Creamy Cheese Sauce for Fries

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes, until the mixture turns a light golden color.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps.
- Continue to whisk until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese.
- Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using).
- Mix well to combine.
- Remove the cheese sauce from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
- Pour the cheese sauce over hot, crispy fries and enjoy!
