Soft White Sandwich Bread

Ingredients
- 3¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1½ tbsp sugar
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- ¼ cup warm water (110°F)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- Extra butter for brushing (optional)
Directions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
- Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add softened butter and salt.
- Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, shape into a log, and place into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until the dough crowns about 1 inch above the rim.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Brush with butter while warm, let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
