Bobotie Meatballs


Ingredients:
- 1kg beef mince (available at most supermarkets or butcheries)
- 250ml milk
- 1 slice brown bread
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 30ml olive oil
- 20ml curry powder (use a local brand like Rajah)
- 10ml turmeric
- 30ml white wine vinegar (or use apple cider vinegar as a substitute)
- 1 egg
- 15ml apricot jam
- 15ml Worcester sauce
- Bay leaves (fresh or dried)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Egg Topping:
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 15ml milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Soak bread in milk until soft.
- Mix with beef mince, onions, olive oil, curry powder, turmeric, vinegar, egg, apricot jam, and Worcester sauce.
- Season with salt, pepper, and bay leaves.
- Form into meatballs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush with egg topping mixture.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Note:
You can serve the Bobotie Meatballs with a side of rice, roti, or in a sub roll.
